“Força Plural” is a visual tribute to the collective spirit of Nou Barris, Barcelona, a neighborhood shaped by diversity and shared effort. The work depicts a symbolic race in which people of different ages, genders, and backgrounds run together, not to compete, but to move forward as a community. It is a story of shared growth.

This mural portrays sport as a tool for cohesion and as a democratic space, where community is built through movement, empathy, and collaboration. Força Plural celebrates the living, evolving identity of Nou Barris, where every step and shared gesture strengthens the neighborhood’s collective fabric.

ANAMORPHIC MURAL

The mural is anamorphic, spanning two walls separated by a ramp. The top wall depicts the runners, while the bottom wall shows a pixelated representation of their feet in the relay. As viewers move around the mural, the lower section appears to shift differently from the upper section, creating a glitch-like effect that responds to the observer’s perspective.

At a specific viewpoin, in front of the central figure, the two walls visually align, revealing the full composition. This moment illustrates the idea that we choose our focus, and it shapes reality in our favor. The work invites interaction, turning perception into an active, participatory experience.

Objects of Meaning

Inspired by a relay race, the mural features five figures in different styles. Three appear in the foreground, each carrying an object full of meaning: a backpack, a baton, and a rose.

The backpack, carried by a young figure, represents the beginning of the migratory journey: hope, memory, and the challenges that come with leaving home behind. The baton, a symbol of the game and the relay, speaks to adapting to a new environment, with sport as a universal language that breaks cultural barriers and builds bridges. Finally, the Ginesta, representing Catalonia, and the red carnation, representing Andalucia, pay homage to the neighborhood’s local folklore, referencing the giants Trini and Baró. Together, they symbolize how encounters between people of different origins, cultures, and traditions can create something vibrant and meaningful.

We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the RebobinArt team for their invaluable support in making this project possible, and to Jan and Martí for their assistance during production. Special gratitude goes to Lucia for her unconditional support throughout the entire process. We also thank Barcelona City Council and everyone behind the project for investing in and supporting our vision.
